Washing Guidelines
Here are some tips to effectively wash your silk and cotton sarees:
Washing Cotton Sarees:
- Prior to the first wash, soak your cotton saree in a bucket of water with a dash of salt for 10-15 minutes to prevent color bleeding in subsequent washes.
- Hand-wash your cotton sarees using lukewarm water. Avoid vigorous wringing; instead, gently hang them to drain excess water.
- For a crisp finish, consider starching your cotton sarees after washing.
- When drying cotton sarees, avoid direct sunlight exposure to prevent color fading.
- Store your cotton sarees in a well-ventilated cupboard or closet, away from moisture and sunlight.
Washing Silk Sarees:
- Always opt for dry cleaning when it comes to washing silk sarees to ensure longevity.
- For immediate stain removal, dab the stained area with cold water.
- Dry silk sarees in early morning or late evening sunlight, avoiding direct exposure to prevent color fading.
- Utilize saree bags for storage to prevent embroidery damage. Avoid stuffing or bundling sarees together.
- Wrap expensive silk sarees in a light-colored cotton or muslin cloth to protect them.
- For sarees with golden embroidery or Zari, refrain from storing them in plastic bags and ensure they're not in contact with any plastic components, even within saree bags.
